Multi disciplinary project about anxiety
2024 - work in progress
In the fall of 2024, after a prolonged period of anxiety about the future—my own, the future of those around me, and the political and ecological future of the planet and individual
countries—following extensive conversations with professors and students at our university, as well as with my psychoanalyst, I decided to create a project about crisis and uncertainty. I began this project in November 2024 and plan to complete it in November 2025.
For this project, every time I am near the University of Fine Arts Hamburg, I pose a question that troubles me and others I interact with to the tree growing opposite the main entrance. This remarkable tree is composed of two parts: one part is a weeping beech, and the other is a European beech. They bloom and shed their leaves at different times. I document the answers in the form of photographs, videos, and notes in a dedicated notebook. I also plan to create a small performance with the tree.
In parallel, I am trying to learn more about the tree's history, find archival photographs, and connect with various people to gather information. Through this quasi-esoteric practice, I engage with a stable yet living local object of interest, exploring the possibilities of different perspectives and striving to find clarity on certain questions.
