Non-Artist
2015-2017
non-artist project website
After the birth of my first child, I was hit by a severe professional crisis, from which I couldn't emerge for a long time because my husband was earning money and building his career while I spent all my time with the child.
Moreover, child benefits in Russia are very small, and it's really accepted in society for men to work rather than spend time with the child during the first three years of their life, which is how long maternity leave lasts in Russia.
I wasn't quite ready for this, but I had no time left to develop my photography and pursue it.
I tried to be ironic about this situation and called myself a non-artist. The main rule of being a non-artist was not to strive for perfection, but to do what I could. I created my non-artistic manifesto, non-artistic CV, and even a non-artist website. You can see my non-artistic works via the link.
